Rufus T. Firefly, the band led by Víctor Cabezuelo and Julia Martín-Maestro is already, despite the youth of its members, considered a cult classic in Spain’s independent scene. Its highly sophisticated energy and sound escapes the obvious and builds in each production and live performance a magic and rock atmosphere sliding into a neat and highly addictive psychodelia.
In 2017 they released Magnolia (Self-released, Lago Naranja Records), a plea in defense of art, love and nature in the form of 10 songs meticulously produced by Manuel Cabezalí and Víctor Cabezuelo himself. A precious, risky and ambitious album, marked by the band's obsession with perfecting their sound and the depth of their textures, always on the fringes of fashion and with the same goal in mind: to create a unique work, as beautiful as possible. It was followed by Loto (Self-released, Lago Naranja Records), which with perspective became the second part of the previous album and with which they managed to consolidate themselves as one of the most acclaimed bands of the scene.
After an extensive tour in Spain and a stop in Mexico, the band said farewell to this era with a very special concert at La Riviera in Madrid with sold out tickets months before and with a trip to Chile to present their songs there for the first time.
On November 26, 2021, their new album El Largo Mañana (Self-released, Lago Naranja Records) was released. They have been presenting it live in venues and festivals around the country for the last two years. Now, El Largo Mañana comes to an end with a Special Edition that includes unreleased tracks, live versions and collaborations with Club del Río, Rafa Val (Viva Suecia) and Anni B Sweet.
Following the success of their tour with El Largo Mañana, Rufus T. Firefly continues to focus on live performances. This past May, the band traveled to perform on stages in Mexico. They’ve also played at venues like the Prado Museum in Madrid, Serialparc in Valencia, Galaxy Sound in Málaga, Zeporock Fest, Trasan Fest, El Jardín Secreto at Casa Árabe, Solopor Monteferro Festival, Vive Latino, Indyspensable, and Irun Zuzenean...
All of this while Rufus T. Firefly is currently working on new music, which will be released soon as an album, with plans to embark on another tour to showcase their latest tracks.
